Board Certification - My Exam Study Process

I have wanted to be an attorney for about as long as I can remember. However, I never have wanted to be just ANY attorney, I’ve always wanted to be a criminal defense attorney. That is not to say that some other areas of the law do not interest me, because many other areas do pique my interest, and on occasion I find myself working on something that is not related to criminal law.

Speaking To Family Members

A common question is why some lawyers are usually reluctant to speak with family members of those they represent. This is a common situation in scenarios where the attorney represents a child, yet the adult parent sometimes pays for the legal services. This seems like a common scenario, afterall, they have been caring for their children all of their life, right? Well there is a reason why an attorney may not choose to speak with family members in detail about representation.

Sycamore Row

I recently read the book Sycamore Row by John Grisham. It is the sequel to his famous book A Time To Kill (which was also made famous by the movie of the same name, with the lead character, Jake Brigance, being played by Matthew McConaughey). It was a good book, and I identified with many of the thoughts, struggles, and battles Jake Brigance encounters in both novels. One excerpt written in Sycamore Rowe particularly stood out to me.
